Powerful Earthquake Hits Japan

The massive Japan earthquake measured 7.0 on the Richter scale Sunday with several aftershocks continuing to terrorize the sothern region of Kyushu, Japan.

At least one person in Japan has been confirmed killed by the earthquake with several hundred more people in Japan feared injured. The epicenter of the earthquake was located on an island of Japan called Genkai, which suffered terrible landslides and gravely damaged houses.

Because of the earthquake, Japan airlifted over one hundred specially trained emergency troops onto the island of Genkai to help relieve the suffering of the people with medical aide and even food. "Japan is located in the heart of the notoriously earthquake prone region known as the 'Pacific Rim', which falls prey to serious earthquakes quite frequently", an official of the Japanise government said.

Masitoshi Agaki, a local elder in that area of Japan devestated by the earthquake, stated that somewhere in the realm of at least three thousand citizens of the Japanese island had to be evacuated from their homes and livelihoods. The Japan earthquake damage figure is expected to rise, dramatically, sources say.

"The earthquake damage to Japan is insurmountable, and the reconstruction could take decades", sighed Butaka Hiromi, a long-time member of the small Japanese village. The town's people will have to gather together to overcome this earthquake with or without the aide of the international emergency relief community or that of Japan.
